Customising Your Shed Part 1

One of the real points of difference in getting your shed from Sheds4U is your ability to customise in ways that will suit you best. You can see how easy this is to do with our new design tool (to make things even easier, there’s a tutorial video you can watch too)!

In this next series of helpful blogs, we’ll run through a few ways you really can get your shed, your way!

Roof Pitch

The outside of your shed is the starting point of customisation, and roof pitch and cladding are the two best ways to make sure you put your personal stamp on your shed.

While some shed designs are all about a gradual angle down to the guttering, Sheds4U have kits that allow for greater flexibility, so roofs of between 3 to 45 degrees can be built. With Sheds4u kitsets you can customise the pitch of your shed to match the pitch of an existing villa or house.

Cladding

In over 20-plus years of supplying kits, our customers opt for Colorsteel and corrugated iron as their cladding as it’s cost-effective and doesn’t require a lot of framing.

We offer a wide range of Colorsteel options; there’s something for everyone.

Of course, there are other cladding options too but it should be noted that they often need a lot more fixing points than Colorsteel, which means more framing material is needed and an extended build time, both of which increase the price of your project.

If iron cladding isn’t the finish you desire, board and batten is next best. This also needs more framing, but it’s much easier to install than weatherboard or cedar.

Doors

Most shed companies will quote on standard ribbed roller doors which come in coloured steel or zinc and help keep costs down.

On the other hand, sectional doors can be made in a host of different materials, including Corten steel, aluminium panels, glass panels or cedar.

If your house uses any of these materials, then sectional doors are an ace way of including these looks into your shed without having to make major structural changes.

There are three common types of roller doors: Series 1 (Domestic) up to 3.2m x 3.2m, Series 2 roller doors, and roller shutter doors.

Series 2 Roller Doors are made from 0.55mm gauge metal and range from 3.2 to 4.9m wide and 3.2 to 5m high. These doors will allow access to legal road height vehicles.

Roller Shutter Doors, fabricated from 0.7 to 1mm galvanised steel, have widths of 4 to 8m or even wider and heights of up to 6m.

These doors are suited to much bigger vehicles and are ideal for heavy-duty workshops, or big storage sheds.

Our go-to guys for doors are Dominator, because they have top quality products and send a qualified fitter to your job to take care of the install.

That said, we’re happy to quote on any cladding with any door you’re after! Just get in touch today and let’s get started!
