Let’s have a look at a few other ways to make your shed exactly what you’re after!
Overhangs are added to the front of your shed – they give you extra protection from the weather over doors and open bays. They’re practical (and they also look great), creating a real feature on your shed, making it stand out.
Most overhangs are around 1m, but it’s easy to make them as narrow as 400 to 600mm or as wide as 3m (as shown below).
We also offer “Big Boy Kitsets” which thanks to our advanced shed technology and systems, means we can offer 22m Clearspans using steel purlins and galvanised rafters that offer 16m clearspans and extra wide bays of up to 10m, maximising weather protection, storage space and ease of loading.

Eaves are formed when the roof line protrudes past the side walls. Eaves are to provide protection from the elements by directing rain away from your sheds walls, windows and doors. They also provide shade from direct sunlight which helps your sheds interior to maintain a cooler temperature.
Eaves can be from 200 to 600mm. In our experience most eaves are 600m and, if your shed has overhangs and eaves, they’ll usually be the same size (so 600mm eaves mean a 600mm overhang) so your building is more symmetrical.
A step-in is created when one bay wall is set further back than the others while the roof line does not change. This can provide increased weather shelter while you’re entering your building, as well as creating a great feature.
You can make changes to the interior of your shed too:
Internal Linings – Lining your shed by covering the framing looks really good. Plywood is the most commonly used material.
Linings like plywood and gib need to be fixed at 600mm centres, which often means we will add extra studs to your shed.
Sheds4U sheds use PAR timber framing, making it super easy for you to line your shed.
Sheds with rolled steel framing don’t lend themselves to this practice too well, because it’s tricky to add extra framing where it is needed, but you can always talk to us about this.
Downpipes and guttering are another way to give your shed a personal touch:
Sheds4U kits come with coloursteel guttering and white PVC downpipes as standard, if you want downpipes that match the shed, just let us know. We can also arrange copper-coloured downpipes and spouting.
Adding windows and ranch slider doors to one of our kit sheds is easy too. Because of our timber framing system, it’s simply a matter of cutting the girts and cladding, adding more timber framing and then putting your joinery into place.
If you’re thinking about supplying the joinery yourself, just let us know whereabouts on your shed you’d like the windows and doors situated, so we can make certain the steel strap bracing is kept out, as it can’t be moved once the engineer has specified it.
As always, the best thing to do is get in touch with us, talk us through your plans thoroughly – then our staff with all their years of expertise can help you make the right decisions.
